Öğe A randomized controlled trial of reflexology effect after abdominal surgery on patient satisfaction, pain and vital signs(Elsevier Science Inc, 2023) Kapikiran, Guerkan; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Gunes, Huseyin; Saritas, Serdar; Demir, BilsevObjective: In our study, we investigated the effect of reflexology on patient satisfaction, pain and vital signs after abdominal surgery.Method: This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial with the participation of 156 abdominal surgery patients hospitalized in the general surgery unit of a training and research hospital. Personal Information Form, Visual Analogue Scale and Newcastle Nursing Care Satisfaction Scale were used in data collection. We performed the data analysis with One-way analysis of variance, Chi-squared test, paired samples t-test, and independent samples t-test.Results: When the pain, vital signs and satisfaction levels of the experimental and control groups were compared, the pain intensity of the experimental group was found to be lower and the level of satisfaction was higher after reflexology (p<0.01). After reflexology, the blood pressure was closer to 120/80 in the experimental group, the respiratory rate was between 16-22 (number/minute), the difference between the experimental and control groups were statistically significant (p<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference between the pulce oximetry values between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: Surgical pain and non-optimal vital signs that are not well managed after surgery causes various complications and decrease patient satisfaction. The results of our study emphasize the power of reflexology in effective surgical pain management and normalizing vital signs and increasing patient satisfaction. We suggest that reflexology be performed to patients following abdominal surgery.Öğe Effect of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Motivation and Adherence to Immunosuppressive Medication in Liver Transplant Recipients: A Randomized Controlled Trial(Wiley, 2025) Saritas, Serdar; Okutan, Serafettin; Saritas, Hasan; Bulbuloglu, SemraBackground: After liver transplantation, recipients continue to receive immunosuppressive drug regimens at varying doses for years to ensure graft function and survival. Although liver transplant recipients are aware of the importance of immunosuppressive drug regimens, treatment compliance may decrease over time due to low motivation, putting recipients at risk of organ rejection. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) appears to be an ideal solution for increasing motivation and, indirectly, treatment compliance. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ACT on adherence to immunosuppressive medication and motivation in liver transplant recipients. Methods: This study was conducted at an organ transplant hospital with the participation of recipients who had completed at least 6 months post-liver transplant. The sample included n = 140 liver transplant recipients (n = 70 experimental, n = 70 control). The study was randomized and controlled. The control group received no intervention, while the experimental group underwent an eight-session ACT program administered by a psychologist. Data collection utilized a personal characteristics form, the Adherence to Immunosuppressive Drug Regimen Scale (AIDRS), the Mindfulness Scale (MS), and the Adult Motivation Scale (AMS). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical methods and tests of significance for differences between variables. Findings: According to the homogeneity tests of this study, there was no statistically significant difference between the control and experimental groups in terms of individual characteristics (age, time since transplantation, immunosuppressive drugs, comorbidities, etc.). In the experimental group, the level of adherence to the immunosuppressive drug regimen after ACT was very close to the maximum AIDRS score. In the control group, the level of compliance with the immunosuppressive drug regimen was close to the mean value of the AIDRS. The differences mentioned in both groups were statistically significant (p < 0.05). In addition, the scores obtained from the MS and YMS were higher than those in the pretest. When the experimental and control groups were compared, the experimental group's final test YMS score was almost twice that of the control group, and this difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The importance of full compliance with the immunosuppressive drug regimen in improving graft function after liver transplantation is well known. The results of this study showed that liver transplant recipients who underwent ACT demonstrated higher adherence to the immunosuppressive drug regimen due to increased motivation and conscious awareness. We recommend the use of ACT to increase adherence to the immunosuppressive medication due to its effectiveness.Öğe The effect of immunosuppression therapy on activities of daily living and comfort level after liver transplantation(Elsevier, 2021) Bulbuloglu, SemraObjectives This study was carried out to investigate the effect of immunosuppression therapy on activities of daily living and comfort level after liver transplantation. Materials and methods This study was conducted in a descriptive and correlational type with the participation of 148 liver transplant patients hospitalized in the liver transplant center of a university hospital. Personal Information Form, Katz Activities of Daily Living Scale and General Comfort Questionnaire were used in data collection. The data analysis was performed with IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Statistics 25. Results According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that 31.1% of the patients were 58 years old and over, 20.9% of them were between 48? and 57 years old, and 81.8% of them were male. It was found that 61.5% of the patients were between the 11th and 21st days after transplantation and 26.4% of them were given oxygen with a non-invasive catheter. It was determined that the patients were semi-independent in activities of daily living and had a moderate comfort level. Conclusions It is not always possible for liver transplant patients to effectively deal with their condition. The low comfort level and quality of life of patients who have undergone liver transplantation should be noticed, and social, economic and psychological support should be provided.Öğe Effect of meditation music and comedy movie interventions on postoperative kinesiophobia and pain in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty(Wiley, 2023) Cici, Remziye; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Kapikiran, GurkanBackgroundThis study aimed to investigate the effects of music and comedy movie interventions on postoperative pain and kinesiophobia in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty. MethodsThis randomized-controlled study was carried out with the participation of patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty. The patients were divided into three groups. To reduce surgical pain and kinesiophobia, the patients in group 1 watched a comedy movie, those in group 2 listened to music, and those in group 3 did not participate in any intervention other than the routine practices of the clinic. ResultsThe personal and medical characteristics of the patients in all groups were similar. The patients in all three groups were kinesiophobic, and their surgical pain levels were moderate despite pharmaceutical interventions. Groups 1 and 2 had a statistically significant decrease in kinesiophobia and pain scores after the interventions. The effects of having patients watch a comedy movie and having them listen to meditation music were not significantly different. ConclusionsThe results of the study showed that listening to meditation music or watching comedy movie scenes had significant positive effects in alleviating postoperative pain and kinesiophobia after TKA. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that patients watch comedy movies and listen to meditation music to alleviate their postoperative pain and kinesiophobia. In patriarchal societies, women may suffer more losses than men and may be disadvantaged in earthquake management. Generation Z has more independent personal characteristics than previous generations, which may have an impact on gender perceptions and individual cultural values on earthquake management. Objective This study aimed to examine the gender perception and individual cultural values of Generation Z earthquake victims on earthquake management.Method This descriptive study was conducted in Malatya, one of the cities affected by the earthquake on February 6, 2023, 2 years after the earthquake, with the participation of n = 226 Generation Z earthquake victims who married or sharing a home with a partner for at least 6 months. Earthquake victim information form, Perception of Gender Role on Disaster Management Scale (PGR-DMS) and Individual Culture Values Scale (CVSCALE) were used for data collection. The PGR-DMS measures gender perception, and higher scores indicate a more positive gender perception. CVSCALE measures individual cultural values and has five sub-dimensions: Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, Collectivism, Long-Term Orientation and Masculinity. Higher score on a subscale indicates that participants embrace the cultural value measured in that dimension for CVSCALE. Descriptive tests, Mann-Whitney U, Chi Squared and Spearman Rho correlation tests were used in data analysis. Results 75.7% of the Generation Z earthquake victims who participated in the study were between 21 and 25 years old and 72.6% were female. 63.3% of Generation Z earthquake victims were high school graduates and 74.3% were employed. 20.8% of Generation Z earthquake victims had a chronic disease, and 15.5% of them had a spouse with a chronic disease. As a result of this study, the PGR-DMS was higher in earthquake victims whose spouses had chronic diseases and this difference was statistically significant (p = 0.030). There was a statistically significant strong relationship between the number of children and PGR-DMS (r = 0.711, p = 0.014). There was a positive, strong and statistically significant correlation between PGR-DMS and Collectivism (r = 0.754, p = 0.021).Conclusion As a result of this study, having a chronic disease in the spouse of Generation Z earthquake victims and an increase in the number of children positively increased the perception of gender in earthquake management. Generation Z earthquake victims' perception of gender in earthquake management, Collectivism and Long-term orientation were above average. As the collectivism of Generation Z earthquake victims increased, the perception of gender in earthquake management raised positively.Öğe Investigation of life satisfaction and spiritual well-being of living liver donors in Turkey(Springer, 2025) Gunes, Huseyin; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Saritas, SerdarSpiritual well-being may be among the most common feelings felt by living liver donors. The feeling that pushes an individual to good behavior may be spiritual well-being, and the feeling that emerges as a result of achieving goodness may be life satisfaction. In our study, we aimed to analyze the spiritual well-being and life satisfaction of living liver donors and to examine the relationship, if any, between spiritual well-being and life satisfaction. Our descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 306 living liver donors (n = 306). In the data collection process, we used a personal information form, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. In data analysis, we utilized descriptive statistical methods, one-way analysis of variance. Of all living liver donors participating in this study, 37.3% were aged 41-50 years, 73.5% were female, and 53.9% donated their liver to their spouse or child. The predictor variable of spiritual well-being was found to account for approximately 29% of the total variance in the predicted variable of life satisfaction. There was a positive and strong correlation between spiritual well-being and life satisfaction of living liver donors (p < 0.05). Spiritual well-being and life satisfaction of living liver donors are positively affected by each other. In order to provide more psychosocial support to these heroes who disregard their own health and try to save others' lives, it is best practice to support their spiritual well-being, increase their life satisfaction and develop awareness about these two values. Information regarding the deterioration of nutritional status in individuals with chronic liver disease is widely known, but changes following liver transplantation need to be investigated. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the nutritional status, taste and smell functions, and hedonic pleasure of liver transplant recipients. Method: The data for this descriptive and cross-sectional study were collected by researchers at an organ transplant hospital. The sample group consisted of n = 326 liver transplant recipients who met the selection criteria. The data collection tools used in this study were a personal information form, the Controlling Nutritional Status Tool (CONUT), the Complete Mouth Test (CMT), the Connecticut Olfactory Recognition Test (CCCRC), the Food Cravings Questionnaire (FCQ), and the Charlson Comorbidity Index. Information about the data collection tools is provided below. Descriptive tests and parametric tests were used in data analysis. Results: In this study, 62.9% of liver transplant recipients were moderately malnourished, 62.9% had severe hyposmia, and 74.2% had hypogeusia. There was an inverse correlation between the duration post-transplant and the severity of malnutrition, taste and smell disorders, and a direct correlation with perceived hedonic pleasure (p < 0.05). Accordingly, there was a statistically significant negative and weak correlation between FCQ and CONUT mean scores (r = -0.154, p = 0.005). There was a statistically significant negative and weak correlation between CMT mean scores and CONUT (r = -0.142, p = 0.011). There was a statistically significant negative and moderate correlation between the CCCRC score average and age (r = -0.432, p = 0.000) and a statistically significant negative and weak correlation between the CCCRC score average and CONUT (r = -0.158, p = 0.004). Conclusion: This study revealed that more than half of liver transplant recipients were moderately malnourished, with a similar proportion having severe hyposmia, and three-quarters had hypogeusia. The severity of malnutrition, along with taste and smell disorders, decreased with increasing post-transplant duration. Smell deficits increased with age. Strategies should be developed to improve malnutrition, taste, and smell disorders in liver transplant recipients, particularly the elderly and those in the early post-transplant period.Öğe Investigation of Post-Transplant Mental Well-Being in Liver Transplant Recipients with Hepatic Encephalopathy(Mdpi, 2024) Saritas, Serdar; Tarlaci, Sultan; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Gunes, HuseyinObjective: In this study, we aimed to examine the healing trend of hepatic encephalopathy after transplantation surgery in patients with liver failure. Method: We conducted this descriptive and cross-sectional study with the participation of liver transplant recipients. A personal information form, the West Haven Criteria (WHC), the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS), and the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS) were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using Chi-squared tests, ANOVA, and paired-samples t-tests. Results: As time progressed after liver transplantation, hepatic encephalopathy stages regressed (p < 0.01). We found that liver transplant recipients with end-stage hepatic encephalopathy were mostly within the first 6 months after transplantation, while patients with first-stage hepatic encephalopathy had received liver transplants more than 2 years ago (p < 0.01). Conclusions: The results of our study revealed that hepatic encephalopathy stages regressed after transplantation, but there was no complete recovery. This highlights the need to develop new treatment strategies other than liver transplantation for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy.Öğe Post-Traumatic Growth, Mindfulness, and Quality of Life in Liver Transplant Recipients: A Cross-Sectional Study(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2025) Demir, Bilsev; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Kayaoglu, KubraPurpose: This study aimed to examine post-traumatic growth, mindfulness, and quality of life in recipients after liver transplantation. Design and Methods: This study employs a descriptive and cross-sectional design. We collected data in an organ transplant center affiliated with a research and application hospital in Eastern Turkey. The sample in our study included a total of 292 liver transplant recipients. We collected data using a personal information form, the Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) Inventory, the Mindfulness Scale (MS), and the Quality of Life Questionnaire (QoL) Short Form (SF-36). We performed data analysis using descriptive statistical methods and one-way analysis of variance. Results: Of the liver transplant recipients, 72.6% were between 45 and 64 years of age, 72.3% were female, and 56.5% had undergone liver transplantation more than 1 year prior. Liver transplant recipients scored between 64.89 and 97.85 on the negative subscales. Recipients scored between 32.70 and 44.72 on the positive subscales in QoL SF-36. The PTG and MS mean scores were 62.43 ± 20.31 and 62.35 ± 7.14, respectively. There was a positive correlation between positive QoL sub-dimensions and MS and PTG (p < 0.05). Conclusions: We found a positive and strong relationship between PTG and mindfulness; in addition, we found that an increase in both had the effect of improving QoL. We recommend developing strategies that increase PTG, and that mindfulness be performed to improve QoL among patients following liver transplantation. © 2025 by the authors.Öğe Relation between monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and prognosis in recipients after liver transplantation(Elsevier, 2025) Okutan, Serafettin; Saritas, Hasan; Saritas, Serdar; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Gunes, HuseyinBackground The end-stage liver diseases require liver transplantation as the life-saving solution. It is known that monocytes/macrophages and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) have important contributions to the development of hepatic inflammation and oxidative stress before liver transplantation. However, the effect of monocyte/HDL-C ratio (MHR) on clinical progression and outcome in the post-transplant period are not fully understood. Our hypothesis is that the MHR value may be associated with poor vs. good outcomes after liver transplantation. Methods In our retrospective study, we included 464 liver transplant recipients. Patients' data were extracted from electronic and other paper records in our teaching/research hospital. The MHR values and other blood parameters (creatinine, total protein, albumin, etc.) were expressed as a mean and standard deviation, which were analyzed by the Pearson correlation test. The relationship between graft dysfunction and MHR was determined by ROC curve analysis. Results The mean age of liver transplant recipients was 45.8 +/- 13.7 years. Nineteen percent of patients had liver failure due to Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (AFLD) and 34.5 % had liver failure due to hepatitis B virus. At the end of 3 months after liver transplantation, 84.5 % of liver transplant recipients were alive, 5.8 % experienced graft rejection and 5.17 % had an infection. There was a statistically significant improvement in total protein, albumin, liver function tests, and serum creatinine values of the survivors (all p < 0.05). The MHR levels were significantly higher in patients who died after transplantation in comparison to those who survived before and after liver transplantation and these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.01). Conclusion The increased MHR values of recipients after liver transplantation correlated with their risk of survival. Furthermore, the MHR value increased with increased MELD score and the number of days of hospitalization and was not affected by gender and age. MHR was higher in patients with chronic diseases. Patients with high MHR before and after transplantation should be monitored more closely in the perioperative period.Öğe The effect of bed exercises following major abdominal surgery on early ambulation, mobilization, pain and anxiety: A randomized-controlled trial(Wiley, 2024) Yaban, Zuleyha Simsek; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Kapikiran, Gurkan; Gunes, Huseyin; Sahin, Sennur Kula; Saritas, SerdarThis randomized-controlled trial aimed to investigate the effect of bed exercises on postoperative anxiety, pain, early ambulation and mobilization. This study was conducted with a randomized-controlled trial design and in the general surgical clinic of a research and training hospital. A total of 120 patients (60 in the experimental group and 60 in the control group) scheduled for major abdominal surgery took part in the study. The data were collected using a patient information form, the Anxiety Specific to Surgery Questionnaire and the Visual Analog Scale through face-to-face interviews. The patients in the experimental group performed 15-min bed exercises on the day of their operation, as well as on the postoperative first and second days, and the control group underwent only the routinely performed procedures in the clinic. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance and t-tests. The sample of our study included major abdominal surgery patients. Ambulation was achieved at a mean time of 4 h earlier in the experimental group. On the postoperative first and second days, the patients in the experimental group had mean mobilization durations that were approximately 2 h longer compared with the patients in the control group. Moreover, the postoperative pain and anxiety levels of the patients in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the patients in the control group (p < 0.05). We recommend that bed exercises be performed to lower anxiety and pain severity, achieve early ambulation and increase the duration of mobilization among patients following major abdominal surgery.Öğe The effect of kinesiophobia on gastrointestinal disorders in patients with lower extremity orthopedic surgery(Frontiers Media Sa, 2025) Gunes, Huseyin; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Saritas, Serdar; Ozdemir, AhmetBackground Postoperative kinesiophobia and gastrointestinal (GI) disorders are common and undesirable conditions following orthopedic surgery. Additionally, managing both conditions is crucial for preventing complications and accelerating recovery. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of kinesiophobia on GI disorders after lower extremity orthopedic surgery. Method This study was conducted with a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of a total of n = 299 patients who underwent orthopedic surgery in their lower extremities at the orthopedics and traumatology clinic of a research and training hospital located in Turkey. A personal information form, the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK), and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) were used to collect data, and the obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), paired-samples t-test, and post hoc tests when necessary. Results While 24.4% of the patients were aged 65-74 years, 51.5% were male. The mean total TSK score of the patients was above average (49.36 +/- 8.74), while their mean total GSRS score was below average (31.22 +/- 11.7). In our study, as kinesiophobia increased, the frequency of bowel movements decreased, and kinesiophobia explained 19.9% of the variance in GI disorders (p < 0.05). Conclusions Kinesiophobia is a significant predictor of GI disorders in patients who underwent lower extremity surgery. Returning to normal GI function after surgery is crucial for preventing complications in patients with lower extremity surgery. Uncontrolled kinesiophobia after surgery exacerbates GI disorders. Therefore, early diagnosis and management of both kinesiophobia and GI disorders are necessary for rapid recovery in patients with lower extremity surgery.Öğe The effect of nursing care satisfaction on pain and anxiety levels of patients undergoing orthopedic surgery in the early postoperative period(2022) GÜNEŞ, HÜSEYİN; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Kapikiran, Gurkan; Sarıtaş, SerdarIn our study, we aimed to examine the effect of nursing care satisfaction on the pain and anxiety levels of patients who underwent orthopedic surgery. This descriptive study was conducted with the participation of patients who underwent surgery in the orthopedic clinic of a training and research hospital, and they were in the early postoperative period. Patient information form, Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scale and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were used in data collection. In this study, we found that 41.2% of the orthopedic patients were between the ages of 36 and 50, and 60.4% of them were women. Both nursing care satisfaction and anxiety levels were found to be higher in women than men (p<0.05). The highest satisfaction rate was found among patients aged 18-35 years old, and the highest anxiety level was found in patients over the age of 66. In our study, we found that higher anxiety levels increased pain intensity, and a high level of nursing care satisfaction could be seen in various pain and anxiety levels. Our study showed that nursing care satisfaction was affected by pain and anxiety in patients who underwent orthopedic surgery. In addition, it showed that pain and anxiety trigger each other. Clinicians should be aware of the negative effects of pain and anxiety on postoperative recovery. Strategies to increase nursing care satisfaction should be developed.Öğe The effect of perceived social support on psychological resilience in liver transplant patients receiving immunosuppression therapy(Elsevier, 2021) Bulbuloglu, Semra; Demir, BilsevObjective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of social support on psychological resilience in liver transplant patients receiving immunosuppression therapy. Method: This study was carried out as a descriptive and cross-sectional study with the participation of 290 liver transplant patients hospitalized in the liver transplant center of a research and application hospital. Personal Information Form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) were used in data collection. The data analysis was performed with IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Statistics 25. Results: According to the data obtained, it was determined that 30.4% of the patients were 58 years old and over, 81% of them were male and 92.8% of them were married. It was found that all of the patients used antimetabolites and corticosteroids, and 82.8% of them used calcineurin inhibitors. It was determined that 32.8% of the patients experienced infection, neuropsychiatric problems and nephrotoxicity at the same time. The psychological resilience of the patients was found to be moderate, and their perceived social support was found to be low. Conclusion: It is not always possible for liver transplant patients to deal with their situation effectively. The psychological resilience and social support levels of patients who have undergone liver transplantation should be noticed, and social, economic and psychological support should be provided.Öğe The Effects of Comedy Movies on Preoperative Anxiety and Postoperative Pain in Patients Who Have Undergone Abdominal Surgery: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial(Wiley, 2025) Kapikiran, Guerkan; Bulbuloglu, Semra; Cici, RemziyeThis randomized controlled pilot study, which involved 176 patients, aimed to evaluate the impact of comedy films on preoperative anxiety levels and postoperative pain in patients undergoing abdominal surgery, as well as the feasibility of this intervention. While the patients in the control group did not undergo any intervention other than routine clinical interventions, the patients in the experimental group watched a comedy movie for 25 min. The pretest anxiety score of the experimental group was found to be 57.48 +/- 6.09, while the posttest anxiety score of the same group decreased to 37.35 +/- 8.10 after watching a comedy movie. The difference between their pretest and posttest anxiety mean scores was statistically significant (Cohen's d: 4.20, 95% CI: 27.8124 to 32.4603, p: 0.000). The mean pretest and posttest pain scores of those in the experimental group were 4.99 +/- 1.24 and 4.76 +/- 1.33, respectively (Cohen's d: 2.72, 95% CI: -24.6459 to -19.7858, p: 0.003). It was concluded that watching a comedy movie, which is an inexpensive and effective method, reduces preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in patients undergoing abdominal surgery and provides important information necessary for the design of more precise studies in the future.Öğe The Relationship between Postoperatively Thirst and Fatigue Level in Bariatric Surgery Patients: A Correlational Descriptive Study(Marmara Univ, Inst Health Sciences, 2026) Kavak, Mustafa; Ozdemir, Ahmet; Saritas, Serdar; Bulbuloglu, SemraObjective: Bariatric surgical treatment options have been used to achieve weight loss. Patients often experience thirst and fatigue postoperatively. Thirst is considered a relatively minor complication during the postoperative phase, and there are a limited number of studies on its effects on patients. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between thirst and fatigue levels of patients after bariatric surgery. Methods: This study was conducted in the General Surgery Clinic of a University Hospital in East of T & uuml;rkiye between June 2022 and July 2023. The study was completed with 284 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The Descriptive Characteristics Form, Numerical Rating Scale and Brief Fatigue Inventory were used in the study. Results: The patients had high levels of thirst and fatigue. A statistically significant positive correlation (r=0.623) was found between thirst and fatigue levels (p<.001). Regression analysis indicated that thirst explained 37% of the variance in fatigue. It can be asserted that as the thirst level of the patients increased, so did their fatigue levels. Conclusion: The study revealed that bariatric surgery patients suffered from postoperative thirst, which was significantly associated with higher fatigue levels. It is recommended that nurses evaluate the thirst-related fatigue experienced by bariatric surgery patients postoperatively.
