Evaluation of delivery room resuscitation in late preterm and term newborns according to the intensity of resuscitation
(2022) Melekoğlu, Nuriye Aslı; YAŞAR, Şeyma
The transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life is not achieved smoothly by all newborns; approximately 10% of all births require additional assistance to initiate\rbreathing. We aimed to describe the frequency and extent of delivery room resuscitation in late preterm and term infants with short term neonatal outcomes and we also\rcompared our results according to the intensity of resuscitation. In this single-centre retrospective study, maternal and neonatal data were collected from medical records\rat Malatya Turgut Ozal University Hospital between January 2021-2022. A total of 181 infants resuscitated at birth were included. The mean gestational age of 38 ± 2\rweek and mean birth weights of 3169±629 grams. The majority of the newborns were male , and 28 (15.5%) were late premature. Free flow oxygen / CPAP and bag mask\rventilation were the most common maneuvers with a frequency of 45.3% and 35.3% respectively. There was no significant difference between the need for advanced delivery room resuscitation and gender, prematurity and presence of small for gestational age or large for gestational age (p>0.05). But when maternal factors were evaluated,\rthe mode of delivery, chorioamnionitis, adolescent mother subgroup, and presence of maternal diabetes were significantly different between the two groups (p<0.05). In\raddition, the advanced resuscitation group had lower Apgar scores, and also the rate of asphyxia, birth trauma, pneumothorax and death were higher in this group (p<0.05).\rIn late preterm and term newborns, neonatal outcomes worsen as the intensity of delivery room resuscitation increases.

Synthesis and investigation of antiproliferative activity of Ru-NHC complexes against C6 and HeLa cancer cells
(2022) PAŞAHAN, RAMAZAN; Akkoç, Mitat; YAŞAR, Şeyma; Köprülü, Tuğba Kul; tekin, saban; yaşar, sedat; Özdemir, İsmail
The 2-methylpyridine, 2-diethylaminoethyl, and isopentyl linked a series of symmetric and unsymmetric benzimidazolium salts 2a-e were prepared and used in the synthesis of silver-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes (3a-e). The Ru(II)-NHC complexes (4a-h) were synthesized via transmetalation reaction from 3a-e. 4a-h complexes were converted to Ru(II)-NHC.HCl complexes (5a- h) by HCl solution of diethyl ether and characterized by different spectroscopic techniques such as $^1H and ^{13}C$ NMR, LC/MS-Q-TOF, FT-IR, elemental analysis, and melting point detection. We examined the effect of the structural difference of complexes on anticancer activity via different arenes and metal centers. Antiproliferative activity of 5a-h and 3a was tested against human cervix adenocarcinoma (HeLa) and rat glioblastoma (C6) cell lines by ELISA assay. The $IC_{50}$ value of 5b, 5c and 5e complexes exhibited good cytotoxic activity than cisplatin on C6 (14.2 ± 0.5 mM; 16.2 ± 0.4 mM; 24.2 ± 0.7 mM, respectively) and HeLa (11.1 ± 0.5 mM; 13.7 ± 0.3 mM; 22.8 ± 0.8 mM, respectively) cell lines.

The investigation of vestibulary system in patients with thyroid dysfunctions
(2024) koca, çiğdem fırat; keskin, lezan; KELLEŞ, Mehmet; ÇELİK, TURGUT; Aydin, Sukru; YAŞAR, Şeyma
A relationship has been detected among thyroid dysfunctions and vestibular pathologies. Our aim was to evaluate the vestibular system in cases with thyroid dysfunctions. Totally 71 patients between the ages of 20-50 with thyroid dysfunctions (35 hypothyroidic and 36 hyperthyroidic) and 36 participants with normal thyroid functions were included. Patients were also allocated as two groups based on antibody positivity. Pure tone audiometry and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential tests were performed for all participants. In the left ear there was a numerically significance in the hypothyroids at 4000 and 8000 Hz (p=0.020 and p=0.014). In the right ear p13 and n23 latencies differed among the groups, (p=0.004 and p=0.001). The p13-n23 and n10-p15 amplitudes were decreased in both patient groups (p<0.001) (p=0.015). For the left ear, the p13 an n23 latencies was prolonged in both patient groups (p=0.044) (p=0.002). The p13-n23 amplitude value was distincted numerically significant (p<0.001). The n10-p15 amplitude was longer in the patients (p=0.004). We can not observe a numerically significance among groups according to antibody positivity (p>0.005). Thyroid dysfunctions may lead to subclinical changes on the vestibular system and the saccular and utriculer impairment may be an early indicator of endolymphatic hydrops.
